We are spending our summer in sunny Northern Alberta this year and really enjoying it. We are staying at Hope Lake, dry camping and like the idea of being back to the basics. It's nice to have all the conveniences of full hook-ups, but this is also a treat for us. Back to nature, so to speak.

The sun is finally out in Texas!!
Well, the sun has finally decided to bless us with some warmth. This is a great thing after the cold blasts from the North we have endured during our winter in Texas. Of course, we came here believing that our bones would be warmed and our joints would be more mobile. Finally this is beginning to happen. Our stay at Lake Texana State Park has been lovely, we didn't have to even turn on our furnace and our windows have been open 24 hours a day. We have even had to run the fans to keep it cooler. It has been in the high +20c's to the low +30c's, and our tans are starting to reappear. We were beginning to think that we would be coming home white this year!! It seems really strange that there are alligators here, but they are well fed and happy, so there is no worries of being taken over by them as long as one stays a healthy distance away. We also saw our first snake on our way in to the campground. It was lying across the road, sunning itself after all the cold weather. Unfortunately we did not get a picture of it as my camera was in the 5th wheel. I now travel with my camera in the truck just in case there is something of interest around. Anyway, we were told that this snake, measuring approximately 3 1/2 feet, was a Diamond Back Water Snake of the non-venomus type. Anyway, hope you enjoy the scrapbook of our stay and what we have seen.
